Guptill, James Edward - 79 Passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary on Dec 19/24.
Jim had been a resident of the Northwood Nursing Home for the past 4 years.
Jim was born on Grand Manan Island N.B to Keith and Phyllis(Somers) Guptill.
Survived by his mother who just celebrated her 100th birthday in September. Sons, Kirk, Kristoper (Helen), Aaron (Amanda) of Halifax; daughters, Natalie (Ralston) Small of Sussex N.B and Kathy June (Ryan) Colwell of Halifax. Siblings, Marilyn (Rick) Young, Moscow Idaho, Carl (Liz) of Sussex N.B, Beverly (Sam) Babineau of Moncton N.B, and Martha (Carl) Lowe of B.C. Jim had 21 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and sister-inlaw Barbara Guptill.
Jim is predeceased by his father and best friend, and brother Barry.
Jim started his working career as a lighthouse keeper on Country Island , N.S. and after 8 years was transferred to rotation stations, Gull Rock, Salvages, Eddy Point and Chebucto Head. Upon automation of light stations Jim went to work until retirement at the Coast Guard station in Dartmouth. Jim went back to work
after a short time with Atlantic Pilotage Authority and finished working career at St Mary's University as security.
Cremation has taken place.
