Obituary of Wayne Dexter Collins

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our friend, Wayne Dexter Collins of Truro, NS on December 2, 2024, at 78 years of age. Wayne passed peacefully in Camp Hill Long-term care, where he resided for the last years of his life. Born in Truro in 1946, with cerebral palsy, he was adopted by Mr. & Mrs. Ferguson, who he called Mom & Dad. Cerebral palsy did not stop Wayne from living a full and love filled life. He was an award-winning Bocce ball player. Wayne participated in the Bocce World Cup in Sydney, Australia in 1995 and Atlanta Paralympics in 1996. A deeply spiritual man, he explored numerous religious teachings and found comfort in them all. He was baptized, attained his priesthood, and became an Elder in the Mormon Church. Wayne touched many lives with his famous smile and unwavering positivity. Wayne was a fixture along Halifax’s waterfront, often seen with his flags flying and rock and roll blasting. He always greeted everyone with a friendly hello wherever he went. He will be dearly missed by those who cared for him. Arrangements have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Beechville. A graveside service will be held on Friday December 20, 2024, in The Falls Cemetery, 2395 Balmoral Rd, Brule Shore, NS B0K 1V0.
