Obituary of Alan Daniel Dingwall

Alan Daniel Dingwall, 68 Sydney, N.S. It is with great sadness, that we, the family of Alan Daniel Dingwall, 68, of Sydney, announce his passing on December 3, 2024, in Hospice Cape Breton. Born in Sydney, N.S., he was the son of the late Ellsworth (Lal) and Dorothy (Daye) Dingwall Mombourquette. Alan was a painter by trade, and was known to have painted almost every bridge in Cape Breton. Alan had a love for Harley Davidson Motorbikes and was a huge supporter of the Highlanders Motorcycle Club. He liked to hangout with his friends at the clubhouses and was well respected within the biker world. Alan was also known to be exceptional cook and baker and will be greatly missed and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Alan is survived by his mother Dorothy (Daye) Dingwall Mombourquette; sons Murray and Billy Dingwall and their mom Susan Stonebridge Dingwall of Ontario, and son Andrew of Port Hawkesbury, N.S.; two brothers Murray (Joan) Dingwall and Lloyd (Donna) Dingwall; a sister Susan Shorrocks; four grandchildren: Ryan Dingwall, Zachary, Alice, and Elizabeth Dingwall. Alan was predeceased by his father Ellsworth Dingwall, twin brother Gordon Frederick Dingwall, and a sister Jodi (Dingwall) Milley, as well as his dog Bootsabear. By request, there will not be a service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Dr., Sydney, N.S. (902)539-7175. Interment will be held at a later time in Hillcrest Cemetery. No flowers please, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Alan was loved by his family and many, many friends. He will be so missed. Thank you to Hospice Cape Breton for the exceptional care and dignity shown to Alan over the last few weeks.
