Marion, Bruce, Bob, Patti, and family
I just heard the news about Charlie's passing.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Charlie was a good friend and mentor to me in my early years just starting out in sales in the toy industry. Charlie and I and Bob Carter would often be in Moncton on business at the same time for sales calls, trade shows, and golf tournaments. We had a lot of laughs on the road and in Halifax.
I had the pleasure of dinners and a trip to Maine with Charlie and Marion. I also met the teachers and a couple of Charlie's sisters. I am so honoured that Charlie invited me along and included me in his plans throughout the years. We would still get together every now and then when I would travel back to Halifax for a visit.
He loved his family and would talk non-stop about all of you. I think he is likely currently talking up a storm in Heaven to anyone who will listen.
I wish that I could have had one more conversation with him but it probably still wouldn't have been enough.
I will miss him dearly but I will cherish the memories.
You are all in my thoughts during this very sad and difficult time.
Sending hugs and prayers, wishing you peace and healing.
Kim Wall XO

My cousin Charlie was several years older than me, and he moved away from Saint John as a young man, thus I did not get to know him well. Our paths did cross a few times through the years, usually when he was back in Saint John for a family event. He and I would talk briefly at those times. I was always impressed with his warm and open manner, his obvious interest in making connections with others. Charlie and I had a lengthy phone conversation a couple of years ago. His openness and love of conversation had not altered with age. Reading his obituary and hearing of his close family and large circle of friends confirms that Charlie had a rich life indeed.

I cannot imagine what my life would’ve been without my Dad, Charlie Cooke being my father. He guided the ship of my life & had a spot-on touch at altering it in the right direction if he saw things going a little off course. I could never fill my Dad’s shoes, far too big for me to fill, but in trying to do so I know I’m a better person for it.
Dad was a great person, a loving husband to my Mum for 67 years & a Dad to my brother Bruce, sister Patti & I beyond compare.
He loved his sales profession & taught me and countless others how to excel at the trade. “Sales is all about relationships” is a phrase often said by my Dad and sure enough he was right.
Dad loved his family, his friends and his customers. He spoke often about all of us through his masterful art of storytelling.
To know Charlie Cooke is to know his passion for sports and the camaraderie that sports creates. I think back to the 1970’s when Dad & I attended numerous Nova Scotia Voyageurs Hockey Team games at the old Halifax Forum. Dad had many friends on The Vee’s Management, Coaching & Training Staff. Between periods we’d head out for the concession stands and, more times than not never get there, due to Dad running into so many friends along the way. As soon as one conversation ended a few steps later another would begin.
I had a special relationship with my Dad, a special connection. But throughout the years I’ve learned that my Dad gave my Mum, Bruce & Patti and our families, his 5 sisters, his vast amount of friends including his best friends Ralph & Peter, his customers and all that knew him that same feeling of having a special relationship & connection with him. That’s just the man my Dad was.
We will love and miss him always.
Bob, Elaine & our Arizona Cooke Family

Sorry to hear about Charles, I often would see him at the flea market and even on my travel to New Hampshire. We would mostly talk about the south end of Saint John NB.and all are old friends of that era in the 1940 and 50.

Thanks…Stevie…Dad loved your family. He often talked about how well you and your brothers did following in your Dad’s foot steps in the insurance industry. He was so proud of you all. He really enjoyed seeing all of you at his Gathering in July 2023. He really appreciated all of you taking the time to come that day. He had so many great memories…taking us kids all to Boston to a baseball game and driving back to Sebago Lake afterward…

I was lucky to be one of Charlie's five sisters and the only one to remain in
Saint John. After Charlie moved away he would stay with me when visiting his countless friends. The South End of Saint John was close to his heart his whole life. And yes there were many stories. What always amazed me was the detail, and how frustrated he would be with me because I could not remember that so and so lived in that brown two story house on Brittain St. He was one of a kind and I would be so happy with one more story and one more visit. He loved his family and was so proud of them and they loved him right back. Sending love to Marian, Bruce, Patti and Bob and all their families. Bev.

Bev, when I think of you I think of Dad’s story about the day you were born. He loved to tell me about not even knowing you were coming. He was at Donald Sutherland’s & someone from your house called & told him his Mom was home from the hospital with you. It was January 1st & he ran home to see you. He knew his Mom was away for a few days but had no idea she was having you. You were an amazing sister…helping him with his get together’s…Sending love to you and your family.

Dear Marion, Patti, Bruce, Bob, Family,
So sorry for your loss. After Bruce adopted me as a freshman in university It was not too long before I was a regular at Charlie and Marion’s homes in Sackville NS and then Waverly. Charlie and Marion were always kind and thoughtful and yes Charlie loved to talk. So did I I guess, and Bruce would often grow impatient as Charlie and I gabbed about sports, his latest amazing product lines and our lives at school. He was a kind, gregarious, truly curious guy, so of course a natural at sales. Love to all.
