It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Rosella Shaddock. Rosella was born on 9th Dec 1940; at the age of 83, she passed peacefully on November 11, 2024 at the QEII surrounded by family. Rosella was predeceased by her lifelong partner, George; brothers, Harold & Liam and grandchild Rhitt (Rayne). Rosella is survived by her children, Wayne (Sherry), Leanne and Joey; grandchildren, Jenna (Matthew), Chase (Kat), Bryanna, Brooke, Rayne and Brody, and greatgrandchildren, Gauge, Copelan, Oakley, Waylon and Penelope. Born in Cape Breton in 1940, she was the daughter of John and Rose MacDonald. After graduating high school, Rosella left Cape Breton and attended Nursing school in Halifax where she spent the next 50 years in the Health Care Profession. Her most favorite job was as a Nova Scotia Public Health Nurse. She loved working in the community and interacting with the children in the schools. She remained close friends with all her co-workers from the Health Department to the very end. Rosella was a proud of mother and even prouder grandmother. It was this and her compassion for others that defines her the best. She had an enduring interest in the wellbeing of others and was a fierce friend and ally. Not enough can be said about the care and nurturing she provided to her family and friends over the decades. Rosella loved being a member of the RED HAT society and was known for her boundless generosity, she was someone who never turned down a chance to help others; countless people were the recipients of her empathy, kindness and compassion. She would do her utmost to ease the pain of others and always lend a helping hand. Rosella’s door was always open. If you knocked, she was offended. She loved being surrounded by friends & family and just enjoying life. She did not have many hobbies, however, she liked to try her luck at Bingo and the machines, or going on an adventure to Cape Breton with one of the grandchildren; they were all sworn to secrecy. Rosella leaves behind a world that shines brighter because of her. The family would like to thank the staff of the QE II, (8.2) for the outstanding care of our Mother. A very special thanks to Rosella's friend, Phillis Creelman, for her friendship and support that spanned decades.
