Dianne and family
My sincere condolences on reading of your moms passing. I knew her as "Mary" for the duration of the time I provided footcare and she held a special spot in my heart. What an angel!! You can be rest assured that she's finally at peace. God bless you all

Dear Dianne, Janet , Paul and families:
Our hearts are saddened to hear the news that your dear Mother, Irene, has passed away. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. I remember your Mom being so sweet and friendly to everyone .. and when she smiled her eyes would really sparkle. I never had the honour to get to know your Mom very well but because I know you … it was so evident how much she was loved by all of you, and how much she loved each one of you. We hope that you will always feel your mother’s love and strength around you - comforting you always.
I hold great admiration for her… bringing up such a wonderful family…who I have been so grateful to call friends. All her wonderful attributes shine through each of you .. her legacy will live on within each of your hearts… loved, cherished and remembered always.
Your Mom arriving in Heaven will have been announced by trumpets and joyful singing. May she rest in heavenly peace .
We offer up prayers for healing and peace for your entire family. May all your fond memories ease the sorrow that you feel and may peace settle gently on your tender broken hearts .
Sending comfort, love and sympathy ,
Vicky ( Hemsworth) Craig and family

Irene was a blessing, a godsend, that was not unlike an adopted mother/grandmother for myself and my children. I didn't have any family in the province, so she and Don and family became family to us.
There were days that Irene's welcoming smile got me through the day and I never felt like I was imposing when I came to visit.
There was always cookies and baked goods to be shared and I particularly loved her rhubarb squares. I got the recipe from her but mine never tasted as good as hers.
She was a kind and giving soul that touched many lives.

To Janet Murphy and Family -- Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mom/your nanny. She was an incredibly sweet woman; caring, kind and friendly. Whether meeting her on the sidewalk during one of her many neighborhood walks or running into her as she was coming and going from your house, she always greeted each encounter with a smile and a warm, "Hello". This is how we will remember her; not just as a part of your family, but as a part of our community. Simply put, she was a lovely human being and we are so grateful for having known her. Sending you love and comfort.
Joy, John, Jack and Skye

Irene lived across the street from us on Summit street. Her and Don were a staple in our childhood. They were often out on their front deck in the warm months and we would always get a pleasant “Good morning!” from Irene or teasing remark from Don. They were very kind, accepting snd helpful neighbours. They often invited us kids in for after school snacks and to watch TV with them. Back when it was a novelty! I will never forget the welcoming, warm nature of Irene. She always had a smile on her face and a cookie to offer.

My fondest memory of your mother and I will forever be in my heart.
We would take strolls in the garden looking at the sunflowers and chatting about everything under the sun.
We also shared the enjoyment of reading scripture.
It was a pleasure to be part of your mum's journey.

Irene and Donnie were fixtures on Summit Street, and good friends to their neighbours. I lived on the street only 20 years, but I have good memories of Irene and Donnie.
It's hard to lose a parent, but I know you have many happy memories to sustain you.

Oh I will miss Irene so much. She has definitely left a special impression on my heart. A special memory ….. one day I was leaving and said… i don’t know when I will see you again Irene. I retired and only working here and there. She said …. I want to retire I’m 92 and I want to call Dianne to tell her I want to retire….she had mentioned this on many occasions since… so one day we had fun with it. We had a retirement party for her. She didn’t say too much not wanting to be the centre of attention but definitely knew it was for her. It was a special moment for sure.
My last day to speak with Irene…. I told her I was going to Ottawa to visit my daughter and wouldn’t see her again for a bit. I said I hope to see her grandson. She said he will be the one with a big smile…. So I was to look for a smiling doctor lol. I will always remember how proud she was of him. I will miss Irene as I know she will be missed by all of us on the Hummingbird Cottage. Special lady for sure!!!
