When my Dad (Duncan) was in the nursing home, he would always want to talk to his brother and talk about the good old days. Alex would say to my Dad, “ Duncan, do you remember when we were kids having our supper and it was Ma that played the piano for us?” They would both get a little teary eyed just thinking about their loving Mother. Alex would also say to my Dad, “ You were my hero and you still are!” This was regarding when my Dad was in the Air Force. Another vivid memory is when Alex asked him, “ Can you still say all our brothers and sisters names in order of birth?” And my Dad would respond at the age of 90…John D, Peggy, Me, Martin, Angus, Alex, Hughie, Jimmy, Bernie, Lois and Danny. And Alex would say, “ We can’t forget Ma and Pa”! They would both chuckle. I personally would phone Alex from time to time, send him photos of my Dad and I would say to him, “ How’s your cat Smokey doing?” Alex would respond, “ I should really cut down on his food, but he’s great company for me!”. I just want to say to his family that are left behind, my deepest condolences goes out to all of you! May your loving Dad Rest In Peace and will be reunited once again with his loving wife Prue and his immediate family. Here’s a nice saying, “We don’t remember the days..We remember the moments. I’ll miss you Uncle Alex. Love your niece, Anne Gillis (Toronto,Ontario)xoxo
