As well as ‘living’ at the provincial Archives, Tony was a fixture at Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia, a Board member and researcher, and author of the definitive book on the history of Bedford. For many years he was a valued member of the committee which produces the Trust’s quarterly, The Griffin. He was a past member of the HRM Committee, where he could be counted on to remember the history and the challenges faced by anyone concerned to protect the city’s heritage buildings.
Tony’s friendly manner, broad smile, and sense of humour made it easy to like him. Occasionally, he would drop surprising hints about his past activities and the other interests he pursued in his other (non-heritage) life. We will miss him.
Our condolences to his family.

Tony is a wise, soft-spoken soul. As a historian, he was generous with both his time and his research skills whenever I asked for his assistance. I will remember him fondly.

Dear Peter,
Larry and I send our sincere condolences to you on Tony's death. Mourning a loved one is beyond difficult but to mourn both of your dear brothers within 10 days in unimaginable. I know your faith will give you strength and the wonderful memories that you all shared, especially during your childhood, some of which my family shared with you, will no doubt help you at this time.
Tony and Mike were blessed to have Judy's selfless care for both of them at the same time during their illnesses.
God bless you, Donna and Judy and may my dear cousins rest in peace.
Cousin, Joan

To the family of Tony Edwards:
I was sad to see Tony's obituary in today's newspaper. Please accept my sincere condolences. Tony was a caring, gentle soul. He will be missed.
In July of 2024, I personally was grateful to receive a message of sympathy from Tony when my own husband passed away. Words of comfort and support always mean a lot at a time like that.
Thinking back to an earlier experience, I appreciated Tony's dedication as Chairperson of the Sponsorship Committee formed by the churches in the North End of Halifax to successfully bring a mother and her four daughters from Eritrea, East Africa to Canada. It was a rewarding opportunity to work together with others.
With sympathy,
Doris Wells

I knew Tony when he was one of the Commissionaires at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, at the front desk, and also at the entrance. As a volunteer, often in the gallery. I had may discussions with Tony on many subjects, and I enjoyed speaking with him; he had a quiet manner and was very intelligent. My sincere condolences.
Elizabeth Ryan,
Honorary Governor, AGNS

Dear Peter, Donna, Judy and all the family,
I just saw the obituary for Tony. Condolences as you continue to grief for Michael and now Tony. When I first lived in Bedford I used to say hello to Mr. Edwards and a general hello to whichever son may be with him. It took just a little while to know your name, Peter and then Michael's and Tony's.
wishing each of you and all enough.
love and prayers,
Joan

I will miss Tony and his vast knowledge about history of Bedford and surrounding areas. I have his books on the subject which will now be my source of info. My husband, Dave (deceased), and I met Tony through Bedford Heritage meetings years ago which were held at the Teachery in Bedford. Rest in peace.

Uncle Tony, my godfather. I’m heartbroken. I remember so many fun times with you in my childhood. How you use to wave goodbye with your foot after we would visit. All the silly jokes. When you came to Ottawa for my confirmation. Recently reaching out to find out when I would be having my youngest daughter baptized. You always remained an important part of our lives and you always will be in our hearts and prayers.
Dear Heavenly Father, in this time of sorrow, we lift our weary hearts to You. We ask for Your loving embrace to surround this grieving family.
Amen
