Obituary of William (Bill) Janes It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Janes, 62, of Whites Lake on October 16, 2024. Born in Grand Falls- Windsor, Newfoundland he was the son of Gordon Janes and Louise (Rowsell). After completing schooling in Grand Falls, Bill moved to St. John’s where he then met Joanne. They soon began dating and moved to Halifax to begin their life together. Although he had a budding career, he looked forward to the day he could move back to Newfoundland. As much as Bill enjoyed his work, his true passion was the time that he spent with his family and friends, looking forward to his vacations “back home” and evenings watching a hockey game. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, and cherished the time he spent fishing, hunting, as well as his time at the family cabin in Newfoundland, surrounded by trees and the lake. An avid animal lover, who would enjoy spending his afternoons taming birds to eat from his hand. Bill had a large extended family that included many nieces and nephews whom he loved and that loved him deeply. He had a particularly strong bond with Chistopher, which grew with the birth of his son Auden. Bill welcomed everyone into his home, and very much enjoyed putting a smile on their faces, by preparing food or sharing a drink or two. Although a soft-spoken, quiet man, he had the biggest heart and will be most remembered for his generosity, selflessness, and the ability to see the best in everyone. Bill is survived by his wife Joanne (Oldford) of 32 years, brother Bruce (Rhonda), sisters Pat, and Lynette (Wayne). Predeceased by his parents Gorden and Louise Janes, sister Marion King and nephew Blair Callahan. A celebration of life will be held October 26th, 2024, from 2pm to 4pm at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Buriel Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent. Arrangements will be made at a later date for interment in Newfoundland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation or the Newfoundland Lionel Kelland Hospice. A special thank you to Jeremy Warford, Dave Parsons, Don Mason as well as Bill’s co-workers for their friendships and support.
