Family Members of Mac
My heartfelt condolence to you on the passing of your Dad. During our working times at Commfac Marcom we shared so many good times, laughter, and memories. I shall remember Mac as a good man that loved his family, and helped all those that he could. A fine man indeed.
God bless Mac and Karen, and you his family.
Bob Shupe

My Grampie was the funniest man I ever met. There was never a frown on my face he couldn’t instantly turn upside down. He was so quick-witted, and he kept that all the way until the end. In my last days with him we got to reminisce, watch the birds outside on the back deck, watch Murdoch Mysteries at 7:00 on CBC every night, and share the best hugs that only Grampie could give. I miss him more than words can explain, but I am at peace knowing him and Nanny are finally together, resting. I love you always, Grampie — Abby <3

The things I will always remember about Mac:
1. The twinkle in his eye
2. His quick wit
3. His ability to make those around him feel comfortable
4. He was dependable and considerate
5. His stories about growing up in Kentville, all his sporting events, tales of his immediate family and friends.
6. The times we spent at the cottage watching the sun set over Amet Bay
7. His love of his cat Wilma who would box with him.
Mac was a tease...
I was so privileged to have him in my life as a very special friend. Miss you always... JAN

Without a doubt Mac was a stand-up guy. He was the guy you could count on 100% of the time when you found yourself in a pier-sixer! Mac figured I was in over my head once and without hesitation he was in!
What a reassuring feeling to forever know that Mac's on my side and he's got my back.

Dear Bruce, Janice, Donna and Families,
Rick and I were so sad to hear of Mac's passing. He was a very special friend who was a treasured member of our coffee group. He loved to share funny stories and it was very evident that his kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. He also gave the best hugs!! We are hoping each loving memory will soften the grief you feel now, bringing peace and healing day by day.
He will truly be missed.
With deepest sympathy,
Rick and Ellen Varner

My deepest sympathies to the family of Mac. I got to know Mac many years ago at the Sunnyside Mall, and was very blessed to call him friend. He always had a smile on his face and was generous with his hugs. He spoke so highly of his children and grandchildren and the deep love for his wife was evident. Mac had lots of stories to tell and we had many laughs together and even the occasional tear. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Dear Donna, Janice,Bruce and family. I just wanted to say how much I have always admired how close your family is and how both your parents made that such a priority. Your Dad shared with me more than once that
You all were his and your mom’s entire world! What a beautiful legacy he leaves behind knowing how close you all are. Family is everything and I know this time is sad but also a blessing that Mac is at peace with your beautiful mom❤️I am sending so much love and compassion

As Mac would share with anyone we met, he knew me since I was "this high", which meant when I was 6 years old, living on Spinner Crescent.
Although I grew up with Mac's 3 children, it was in 2013 when we reconnected as adults. Both walking into the Second Cup in Bedford at the same time, I looked at him and said, "Hello, Mr. MacDonald!" He smiled and said, "Please, call me Mac."
Every weekday when I would stop for coffee, I would stay for a brief chat with him and his friend, Pete. Then, when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and was off work for 6 months, I returned to see Mac and Pete sitting at their usual table outside the Second Cup with a cup coffee, a joke and lots of laughter. When they asked where I had been I shared my journey, and they gave me a big hug and told me they were happy I was well.
From that day on, I arrived at 7, walked around Sunnyside Mall with them, and then we sat and enjoyed a coffee and a chat before I had to leave for work each day. And over the years our little group grew to include others - our coffee crew. An amazing group of people, sharing life, laughter and friendship.
I have been so blessed to have had Mac in my life these past 11 years. When my own father passed after his long battle with cancer, Mac was there to share a hug and provide fatherly advice whenever I needed it. Even through Covid, when the coffee shop was closed, the crew still stayed in contact. We called or connected over Facebook. And when we returned to the mall it was like no time had passed at all.
I have so many memories, all of them good. And the laughter. We shared so much laughter! Mac, you were an amazing friend. I miss you. Our coffee time will not be the same without you. Rest in peace, my dear friend. ❤️
Revelation 21:4 - "He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain. The old things have disappeared."

I had the privilege of being one of Mac’s caregivers & we formed an instant bond. He always had a smile on his face & a twinkle in his eye. He was blessed to be surrounded by such loving, caring & devoted children who went above & beyond to care for their loving Dad. They were an absolute pleasure to work for. He will be greatly missed.

Bruce, Donna and Janice and family, I am very sorry. Mac was very friendly and easy to talk to. He and your mother were both very welcoming when Patricia and I were able to attend the birthday / Christmas Eve gatherings at their home. I hope you can take solace in the fact that they are together again.
