Dear Linda and Helen, I was very sorry to hear of Bills passing. Bill & Elsie were great neighbours, sailing friends. Bill’s sense of humour was so appreciated, such a kind, considerate gentleman. He was best known by Syd and I as the “head chef” of the Rochelle. When ever a long journey was being made we always had ample crew when they knew Bill was the Chef.
Sincere condolences to you and family for your loss.

So sorry to hear of your dad’s passing.
We got to meet your dad through the GLYC horseshoe games. It was our first game. At one of our regattas, my sister attended and she recognized Fred and I said it was Bill! They worked together in Halifax.
After my Don’s passing, we gathered Sundays at St. Margaret’s over the years.
A very proud dad ……
My condolences to you and your families

I sailed with Jack( P1) on HMCS Saguanay in the seventies. He was the chief cook and I a master seaman. Petty Officer Wallace was great boss, cook and shipmate. He treated everyone with respect and his leadership encouraged all of his cook to further their military careers Thanks Jack... Rest In Peace Sailor.

Henry Van Dyke
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side, spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone," there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" This is dying
