Not sure what to say, except Gord was a mentor to me since I was a young child. Pretty sure he helped fit me out with my first hockey gear at age 5.
We hunted together for about 44 years, me following the two great men, Gord and Dad, chasing moose, birds, bakeapples and building boats.
He had a genius for inventing and repairing, I’d smile at the way he would turn a fridge compressor into an air compressor, fill small propane tanks, or upgrade a 9.9 evinrude to a 15, by swapping out some parts!
I will miss him, but will always carry his memory when putting away fish or meat, using his wise ways to make sure everything lasts and is still fresh when you take it out of the freezer.
Happy hunting Gord, say hi to Dad for me!

So sorry to hear the news of Goron’s passing. He and Geraldine were good friends of my parents when I was growing up. As a little girl, I fondly remember Gord and Geraldine visiting Mom and Dad in the evenings. Gord would play a song on his guitar and Geraldine, Mom, and Dad would dance. Then Dad would play the mouth organ and Gord, Geraldine and Mom would dance. The walls would be ringing with laughter. I report this from the peeping post behind my bedroom door. That was at a time when children were not to be seen nor heard when other adults visited. They would dance up a storm and then have a ‘lunch’ before they left to go back down over Martin’s Hill and home. Sometimes, if I was lucky, mom would sneak me a little snack, if I had suitably maintained my anonymity! Those times were filled with such fun-loving memories and Gord and Geraldine were larger than life, to me. He was a quiet, wonderful man, whom I know will be heartfully missed my many, but mostly by his loving wife, Geraldine, and his wonderful children. I pray that your many wonderful memories of him will be a source of comfort as you face the future ahead without him. God bless you all!

CONDOLENCES TO Geraldine and family. Gord always had the time of day for anyone he knew and even some he did not know. I remember the years we worked in the boiler room at CN back in the day, it was a pleasure to be there, mainly for the people I worked with. I will surely miss our yarns at the Post Office from time to time. GONE BUT, GONE BUT WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.

This one is for you Geraldine :) a funny story to celebrate the wonderful man you married. Me and Paula were back in grade 9 or 10…… let’s stick with that…
we had just figured out that Gord brewed home brew in his shed. It was a Friday night before we went to the RC school teenage dance and being the scrawny, skinny child that I was, Paula and the Brook girls lifted me into the window of the shed because the door was locked… we drank ourselves foolish including the hops at the bottom because , well we didn’t know the difference. :) you guys came home early when we weren’t expecting you. Gord found us first (in the shed) but didn’t say much only grinned and smirked and told us to be on our way. We scattered because we were getting off easy. We thought you never knew the difference until the next day when we were violently abusing your toilet (because there was always a sleepover). You both laughed and laughed at us all day and kept saying “so are you ever going to do that again?”…. Awww “no, never”…. Until Gary came along and told us to never drink the hops… then we had the secret.. I still laugh at this memory every time I think of it. You guys laughed at me and Paula running for the bathroom all day. In hindsight, yes you were absolutely right! Hahaha. You are both the best and such an important part of my childhood. I love you both dearly and you raised exceptional people.

One evening in 1957, my girlfriend and I were walking along Grand Bay Road when a car pulled up beside us with Gordon at the wheel, Arthur Anderson playing guitar beside him and Gordon singing an old Hank Williams song. It was a lovely evening and my girlfriend and I were both entranced by Gordon’s incredible singing. I don’t know about her, but I’ll remember that occasion forever.
