Gardiner Mines, N.S.
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Cameron McLean (“Cammie”) of Gardiner Mines, aged 83, on Sunday, September 15th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Gardiner Mines, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth McLean. Cammie worked as a heavy-duty mechanic in the machine shop for DEVCO for over 25 years. He enjoyed exploring the island on his Honda Goldwing motorcycle, making countless friends along the way.
Cammie is survived by his wife, Beverly (Chauder) and his daughter Kimberly Courtney (Glenn). He was a cherished grandfather to Chelsea Blair (Byron) and Mikayla Courtney (Vincent), and a proud great grandfather to Giavanna and Leonardo Blair. He is also survived by his sister, Theresa Burns. Cammie will be fondly remembered by his cousin and close friend, Frank Cooke (Margaret), as well as the Mackie girls – Brenda, Dolores, and especially Wanita (Jamie) – who were like daughters to him.
He is predeceased by his sisters Margie Goulais and Mary O’Connell (Wayne), nephew David Goulais, along with Darren Mackie, who was like a son to him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 23rd, at 1pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm, taking place at T.J. Tracey Cremation & Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, NS. A reception will follow the Celebration of Life.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of ER, 4B, Harbour View, 4C, Palliative Care and Dr. McCarville for the compassionate care Cammie received during his time in the hospital.
