Obituary of Barbara Ann Rossiter
Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family announce Barbara’s passing on June 14th at the age of 95 in the VG Hospital Halifax. Born in Halifax on December 12th, 1928 to William and Bertha Short, she was the younger sister to three older brothers.
Barbara leaves to mourn her daughters Janet Everest, Bedford; Susan Barthelotte, New Glasgow; Nancy (Jeffrey) Payzant, Sackville and Patricia Larsen, New Glasgow, nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald (Howard)Rossiter; brothers Kenneth, Robert and Reginald Short and great grandson Josiah.
The Short family moved to Bedford where Barbara spent her formative years and where she met her husband, Howard. She studied at the Maritime School of Business and worked at the Bank of Montreal before taking on the role of Mother and partner in she and Howard’s business ventures including Rossiter Hardware and B&H Distributors. They were long standing members of the Armdale Yacht Club where they took part in annual cruises and enjoyed travel across Canada and winter retreats in Florida.
The family will cherish the various craft projects she created in latch hook, crochet, knitting, cross stitch and plastic canvas. Barbara was an avid puzzler and always had a word find book close at hand.
We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Crosby and the Team at 9a for their compassion and excellent care over the past several weeks.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. The family will host a reception at a later date.
