George Arthur Denniston, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on
May 22, 2024, at Northwood Nursing Home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the age of 86. Born on
July 7, 1937, in Toronto, Ontario, George was the son of George Denniston and Pearl (Cromar).
George leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lee
Kelly, and his children: Rob Denniston (Michele), Sue Denniston and Ted Denniston (Caroline).
He also leaves behind step-children Kelly Hiltz (Daniel) and Kerry Covey. George was a proud
grandfather to Bradley, Nicholas, Emerald, Arabella, Liam, Mackenzie, Aidan, and Aislynn, and
a great-grandfather to Blake. He is also survived by his sister, Ilene Davis (Jack). George was
predeceased by his brother, Bill Denniston (Bev).
In his early life, George was an avid water skier. He was a member of the Canadian Water Ski
team, representing his country with pride in the World Water Ski Championships in Long Beach,
California, in 1962. George's passion for skiing was evident as he set records, including adding
eight feet to his men's jump record at the Eastern Canadian Water Ski Championships, where
he soared an impressive 126 feet.
His professional journey began with the T. Eaton Company in Toronto before he transitioned to
Danforth Radio. He later joined RCA, later known as Thomson Consumer Electronics, where he
dedicated himself until his retirement from their U.S. office in 1998.
George found joy in travel, particularly enjoying cruises and spending winters in Arizona with his
wife, Debbie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia in George's
memory. George Arthur Denniston will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had
the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
