Obituary of Linda Louise O'Connell

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Louise O’Connell, age 72, on April 4, 2024 surrounded by her two daughters. Born on November 17th, 1951, in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Maude (Chiasson) and Kenneth Aucoin. As a young woman, Linda worked at the Metropolitan for many years as a cashier where she made many friends and enjoyed working and socializing with the community members. She also worked in the schools looking after children during lunch hour. Later in life Linda decided she wanted to work as a PCW and returned to school to pursue this new adventure. She persevered through many challenges at this time and began the career she always wanted. She was hired at Seaview Manor, however her time there was short after an injury that required her to leave the profession. The next chapter of Linda’s life came with many health complications of which she was able to overcome in true “Linda fashion”. She quickly became known as a woman with 29 lives and showed us all the strength and determination she had to remain here with us. Throughout these ups and downs her family grew as her children married and had children of their own. These grandchildren became the light of her life, smile on her face, and her reason for living! Linda was lucky enough to be held on a pedestal by her oldest granddaughter Zoe, who was her bestie and also known as the favorite! Linda loved going to Bingo, Darts, playing machines and taking any advantage to socialize with others. She never missed a wedding shower, baby shower, or any event that included a celebration. At the celebrations she always managed to fill her plate with treats she shouldn’t have and growled when anyone said something. She was determined to live life the way she wanted and no one was going to tell her otherwise. She held true to this philosophy on life even in her final days! Linda will be sadly missed by her two daughters Tracey (Mohamed) O’Connell and Danielle (Peter) Murphy. She will be forever missed by her grandchildren who she adored: Zoe, Kylie, Allie, Ibrahim and Ameera. She is survived by her three sisters Carmel (William) Reid, Patsy (Charlie) Murray, May (Butch) MacNeil and brother Dougie (Gwen) Aucoin. As well as extended family, Cathy (Frank) Bird, Francis (Ruth) O’Connell, o (Judy Nightingale) O’Connell, Ray O’Connell, Mary O’Connell, Marie Kelly, Rose O’Connell, brother in law John Helle and sister in law and best friend Mary O’Connell along with many nieces and nephews. Linda was also blessed with many lifelong friends who she journeyed through life with and made many memories. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years Daniel Joseph O’Connell, her sister Geraldene Bonaparte, her brothers Kenny, Dougie, Billy Aucoin along with sister in law Patsy Baillie, Carol Helle, and brother in law Jack Bonaparte, John Blaise O’Connell, Michael O’Connell, Jerome Kelly, Brian Baillie, and Adrian O’Connell. A very special Thank you to The Glace Bay Renal Dialysis Unit, VON, New Waterford Homecare, Nurses on Three East at the Glace Bay General Hospital, Dr. Elleker, Arbourstone Enhanced Care, and last but not least her support team Carmel, Patsy, Mary and Janet who were there for her each and every day! We could never have given her the care she needed without all of you! At Linda’s request, cremation has taken place. A Special Service will be held at T.J.
