Obituary of Andrew Grant Bain

Andrew Grant Bain, 52, of Sydney, Cape Breton passed away in the Glace Bay General Hospital on March 16, 2024, following ongoing health complications.
Born in Gander, Newfoundland and raised in Baddeck, Andrew was the only child of the late Grant and Ann (Nicholson) Bain.
While many of Andrew’s adult years were spent in the Sydney area in the care of Cape Breton Community Housing Association, he also spent time in Halifax and Toronto following graduation from Baddeck Academy.
Andrew loved music, both playing and listening to it. He was very proud of his guitar collection and spent much of his time playing or watching YouTube videos. He also always enjoyed going out to eat, poutine and fish chowder being some of the foods he enjoyed most.
Andrew was a resident of multiple homes operated by Cape Breton Community Housing Association, most recently Kenwood Avenue and Lorne Street in the years leading up to his passing. He met his girlfriend, Michelle while a resident, made many friends, and formed close relationships with many of the staff.
Andrew is survived by his cousins, Norma MacLean (John Lowe) Hammonds Plains, David MacLean (Raylena Fortune), Inverness, Jean Donaldson, South Carolina, Cheryl Dale, Texas, Gwen Donaldson, South Carolina, uncle Michael Nicholson, Middle Sackville and cousins Hillary Chouinard, Alan Symonds, Jaimey Gannon all of Halifax, and girlfriend Michelle Butler, Sydney.
Andrew was predeceased by his parents, Grant, and Ann Bain; grandparents, Euphemia and Roderick Bain, and Christabelle and Charles (Charlie) Nicholson, all Baddeck, also numerous aunts and uncles.
Thank you to the Cape Breton Community Housing Association for the years of helping Andrew and the nurses and staff of 3 South at the Glace Bay Hospital who helped make his last week as comfortable as possible.
