Obituary of Shirley Ann Tuplin

It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Shirley Ann Tuplin, announce her passing on March 13, 2024, at her home in Membertou, surrounded by her loved ones. Shirley was born in Eskasoni on January 2, 1938, to the late Andrew and Mary Jane Stevens. Shirley had a varied career, she worked in a factory, in a bakery, was also a PCW, a language instructor and a member of the Membertou Drummers. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Carol Ann Tuplin, Jeanette Tuplin and Marcia Tuplin; sons, Gilbert Bernard (Jane) and Gary Tuplin (Margaret); and cousins (known as sisters), Cecelia, Phyllis and Louise Poulette and Mary Basque. Shirley also leaves behind grandchildren, Gary Jr., Shawn, Aaron, Shirley, Gail, Stephanie, Stacey, Matlen and Lindsay; twenty great grandchildren; aunts, Pauline Bernard and Katie MacEwan; and godchildren, Rose LaPorte and Terry Tuplin. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Josephine Stevens; brothers, Joey Stevens and baby Andrew (in infancy); grandson, Cory; granddaughter, Desiree; cousin (known as sister), Annie Johnson; ex-husband, Robert Graham Joseph Tuplin; and godson, Wilfred Poulette. Special thanks to the Membertou Wellness Home, in particular; Madelaine O’Reilly and staff for their compassionate care. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, N.S., 902-539-7175. Visitation will be held in Shirley’s home, 122 Tupsi Drive, Membertou, on Monday, March 18, at 7:00 pm. and March 19, 2024. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Fr. Bill Burke officiating, burial to follow in Membertou Gardens.
