Jeffery Thomas MacKay, 39 Dominion, N.S. It is with broken hearts we announce the unexpected passing of our son, Jeffery Thomas MacKay, 39, of Dominion, NS, in Calgary, AB, on February 25th, 2024. Born in Glace Bay, NS, Jeffery attended MacDonald High school, then spent most of his adult life in Calgary where he was employed in the oil fields and oil rigs and dabbled in painting and masonry while in the City. Jeff will be remembered by many for his kindness, infectious laugh, and hilarious sense of humor. He would not miss an opportunity to go fishing or mountain bike riding. He had many life-long, close friends from Dominion who loved him and always addressed him by his nickname, "Piggy". Jeffery also acquired many long-time friends in Calgary who would automatically gravitate toward him when he entered a crowded room to enjoy a good laugh. Jeff most definitely missed his calling as a stand-up comedian. Jeffery often assisted in the physical fitness of the Calgary Police through arranging and participating in their outdoor activities such as relay races throughout the alleyways and streets of downtown Calgary. In showing his impeccable sportsmanship when his team lost, Jeff would get back on his feet, dust off his knees and be back in time for the next race. Jeffery leaves behind his long-time girlfriend and love of his life, Anna Walker, of Inverness County, NS, who he met while living in Calgary. Jeffery is predeceased by his Grandparents, John and Mary MacKay, Dominion, Annie May Cormier (Campbell), Dominion; Stepfather, Peter Christiansen, Gardiner Mines, Stepmother, Jane MacKay (Deruelle), Dominion; Uncle, Neil MacKay, Dominion; Aunts, Jane deWitte (MacKay), Dominion; Anne MacKay (Wells), Dominion, Tena Cormier, Calgary, and Donna Cormier (Frechette), Ontario, as well as several other family members.
