CHAD EDWARD FLEMMING,1975-2024
Glace Bay, N.S.
Chad would like you to know that his work here is done. He received a call Saturday Feb. 17, 2024, or sort of an offer you can't refuse for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge bonus, a reunion with family he has not seen in a long time.
Born June 25, 1975, Chad grew up in Glace Bay, N.S. and married his sweetheart, Shallen Thompson of Picton, Ontario, and soon started his own family. Xavier (Zay) was the pride and joy of his life and all who meet Zay say he is a “chip off the old block.” Chad co-owned and operated Island Pest Control with his best friend Kevin McLaughlin. He absolutely loved serving and educating his family and customers so much so, that many became dear friends.
Even though his business was “pest control,” Chad had a love for nature for all creatures big and small. He once rescued a motherless baby squirrel and took care of it until it was able to take care for itself. Chad had a quick wit, was a loving husband, father, and friend. He loved to tinker with “projects” both at home (some of which took like forever to complete much to the chagrin of his wife) and with his hobbies. In his leisure time he enjoyed live action role-playing (LARP) and Warhammer where he crafted his works of art that everyone was so very proud of.
Chad had a love for knowledge, always reading, listening to podcasts, and forever learning new things.
Chad is survived by his wife Shallen (Thompson) Flemming and son Xavier (ZAY), his mom Deborah (Turner) Flemming. Forever remembered by his brother Craig (Danielle), sister Kelli (Jeremy) and cherished by his nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his dogs Leia and Cuda.
Chad is now reunited with his dad (Timothy) and grandparents Albert and Violet Turner along with Joseph and Josie Flemming and Uncle Eddie Flemming.
Cremation has taken place, a visitation will be held on Saturday Feb. 24, 2024, from 3 to 5 p.m. in T.J. Tracey's Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
