Mark Edward Hugh Comer, 49
Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with great heartache that we the family of Mark Comer announce his sudden and unexpected passing in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 18, 2024, with his loved ones at his side. Mark was born in Glace Bay and is the son of Eddie and Pauline (Smith)Comer of Donkin.
Mark grew up in Donkin and was well known for his third baseman skills and his infectious smile. Mark played Fastball with the Antonians under Coach Nick, and attended the Canada Games in PEI, he also was a team player with the Mooseheads.
Mark was one of the students belonging to the last graduating class to come out of Donkin High School. He attended post secondary education at CBU, graduating with Instrumentation and Electronics.
Mark was a hard worker, employed with various jobs throughout the years, some of which were Stream, Magna and most recently Lobster Fishing with Devin Green.
Along with his parents, Mark is survived by his beloved daughter Carlyn Blyne Comer (Tamala Ettinger) who he was immensely proud of, and whenever anyone would stop to speak with Mark, he would always take her picture out of his wallet and talk about Carlyn’s’ latest accomplishments. Also surviving Mark are brothers Cory, Jordan, and Joshua(Erika MacIntosh); sister Kerri (Colin)Murphy; nieces Callie and Evie Murphy; partner Amanda Close MacNeil and his little buddy CJ, and Alyssa MacNeil. Mark was a special nephew and cousin to several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mark was predeceased by Hugh and Pearl Smith, Eddie Sir, Rodina Comer, Matthew, Linda, and Gail.
Our family would like to send a special thank you to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital ER and ICU doctors and nurses. Thank you to our neighbours, friends and family for their love and support throughout this challenging time.
