Obituary of Leslie Graham White

Please share a memory of Leslie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born in Purcell’s Cove, Nova Scotia, Leslie Graham White passed away peacefully at London Hall, Bedford, on January 28, 2024 at the age of 93. He was the son of the late Leslie Roosevelt White and Olive Jean Grace Hawbolt. Following his mother's passing when he was a young boy, the late Rose Mary Spinks became his family's caregiver. He is survived by his children, Debbie Gascoigne, Graham (Wanda) White, Patty (Don) Gauthier, Brian (Linda) White and Natalie (Dennis) Zamanis; five grandchildren, Lesley (Dustin) Crowell, Megan (Geoff) Page, Gillian (Andre) Gibbons, Evan and Sophie (Zamanis); and five great grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Maisie, Brody and Evelyn. Leslie was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty Chaddock); son, Bradley; brother, Bertram; and son in law, David. Les started his work career with the Royal Bank. He then moved to GMAC Financing, which took him to Newfoundland in 1953, where he and his wife resided for two years and started their family. Following his return to Nova Scotia, Les entered into a business partnership as manager of Hertz Rent a Car, Airport Transfer and Air Halifax. During these years, he acquired his single engine pilot license, making flights to Sable Island and the Caribbean. Of all his professional accomplishments, the founding of White Water Marine in 1986 was the perfect endeavour that combined career with his life-long love of boating. Les passed his knowledge and love of the great outdoors onto his family. Camping and fishing trips across the Atlantic provinces, as well as hunting and snowmobiling during the fall and winter created lasting memories. Some of Les’ most joyful years were spent with his family at their camp on Panuke Lake. More than anything else, his family came first.
