Mary Elizabeth (Boutilier) Gouthro, 64 Glace Bay, N.S. It is with deep sadness, that we the family of Mary Elizabeth (Boutilier) Gouthro, 64, of Glace Bay, announce her passing on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in the Glace Bay Hospital with her family at her side. Born in Glace Bay, Mary was the daughter of the late Freeman and Margaret (McLean) Boutilier. In her younger years she played Fastball for the Army Navy Queens and then as she got older she played Slo-pitch for R & M Taxi and Mary's Angels alongside her best friend Big Lee (deceased). Mary loved and was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays. She was the founder of the House Dart League, which took place in her home for over 20 years. Mary also enjoyed going to Bingo and watching game shows on TV. Mary is survived by her husband Bernie Gouthro of 45 years; three sons Bernie Jr., Steven (Rachelle), her special angel Harry; 6 brothers Arthur (Ralphina), Hubert, Mickey (Doreen), Lennie (Bernadette), Joe (Amanda) and Freddie (Susan); 1 sister Anne Hanrahan; 2 grandchildren; Dawson Skinner and Angelina Gouthro; sisters-in-law Gwen Bona, Loretta Gouthro, Cecelia (Ron) Nuttall, Cheryl (Kevin) Ford; brothers-in-law Jimmy, Tommy, Michael (Jennifer), all from ON; sisters-in-law Debbie O’Neill, Pamela (Ricky) Dixon, and Gail Campbell (Joey); special nieces Melissa O’Neil and Desiraia Boutilier, as well as several other nieces, nephews and extended family. Along with her parents, Mary was predeceased by parents-in-law Mutt and Eleanor Gouthro; brothers Freeman Jr., and Tommy; sister Mary Lou; nephew and godson Blair Jr., nephew John, and niece Margaret Ann; brothers-in-law Blair Hanrahan, Reggie O’Neill, and Gordon Bona. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 12 to 2 pm, and a Celebration of Life to follow with Peggy MacKinnon presiding, all in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Centre, Sydney, N.S. Thank you to Dr. Cadegan and Brenda, Dr.’s and Nurses at the C.B. Regional Hospital Cancer Centre, as well as Dr. McLaughlin, Dr. Boutilier, Dr. McNeil, and the nursing team of 3 East in the Glace Bay Hospital.
