Obituary of Theresa Mary McNeil

Theresa (Timmons) McNeil, 91 Glace Bay, N.S. We, the family of Theresa (Timmons) McNeil regret to announce her passing in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on December 2, 2023, at the age of 91. Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Flora (Babe) and Joseph Timmons. Theresa was employed at Modern Cleaners at Cape Breton University until her retirement. After retiring, she provided care for others in their homes. In her younger years, she always enjoyed skating and dancing. Throughout her life, Theresa took great pleasure in making meals for her large family, which always included dessert choices and homemade bread. Her recipes will be hard to replicate since they always included “a little bit of this” and “whole lotta that” or “whatever I can find in the cupboards.” Theresa will be greatly missed by daughters Audrey (Bill) Reid Underhill, Karen (Les) Richard (Les), Donna (Jerry) McKinnon, Mary Lou (Eugene) Stonier and sons, Greg (Marie), Danny, and Robert; 23 grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; sisters, Margie McNeil, Mary Hannah, Frances Melanson; brothers Charles and JB Timmons. Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by daughters Shirley (Jack) Nicholson, Neila McNeil, and Joanne (Ed) McNeil Landry; sisters Rosalie MacDonald, Betty Brewer, Ethel MacMillan; brothers, Jackie, Jude, Harvey, Malkie and Reggie Timmons and husband Daniel (Fox) McNeil. The family would like to thank the home care provided by Golden Girls, which allowed for Theresa to stay in her own home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Tracey’s Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902.849.4199. Funeral Service to be held in Immaculate Conception Parish, Main St., Bridgeport, Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2 p.m., with Fr. Daniel Boudreau presiding.
