Obituary of James 'Jim" Michael Allison

Please share a memory of James 'Jim" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James ‘Jim’ Michael Allison Glace Bay, NS Birthdate: March 10, 1950. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Jim Allison, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Jim passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind the love of his life, Gail (nee Rogers), with whom he recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. The pride and joy of Jim’s life were his daughter Amber (Sol) and his grandson and best buddy, Bailey. Jim is also survived by his only remaining sibling, Cyndie (Troy) Glogowski, and Gail’s siblings, Wilena ‘Bea’ Binder, Charlie, Ritzie (Chris) Blatchford, Keith, and Brent (Eleanor). Jim was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Lillian Allison, his brother Stephen ‘Sonny’, his sister Elizabeth ‘Toni’ Sharpe, sister-in-law Patsy Doran, and brothers-in-law Tom and Hal Rogers. Jim worked for 45 years in the trucking industry. It gave him the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people over the years who became close friends. Jim’s family will be eternally grateful to his devoted friend and co-worker, Glen Power, for the regular calls and check-ins. Those of us who were close to Jim enjoyed his sense of humor and endless taunts. Sadly, the family waves a fond ‘goodbye’ to the constant delight Jim found with ‘Hey, Google’. And if he could have one last funny story to tell, you can be sure it would begin with… “Do you remember that wonderful Christmas party in my garage a couple of years ago? Thanks to giving me the best night in a long time. You all know who you are…and thanks for the COVID too!” The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Mark Ellecker and to the VON and Palliative Care nurses for the care they provided to Jim. A very special ‘Thank you’ to the staff at Robins Donuts (Reserve St.) and Guardian Drugs (Glace Bay) for their kindness to Jim during his illness. There will be no visitation or funeral services, as per Jim’s wishes. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation & Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199. I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
