Obituary of John "Jack" Kenneth Daisley

Please share a memory of John "Jack" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daisley, John Kenneth Dominion, N.S. Daisley, John Kenneth of Dominion passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital ER Unit following a lengthy illness. Jack was born in Dingwall, N.S. to the late Annie and John Angus Daisley. Jack was married to Deborah Gould for 18 years until her passing in 1999, and although they didn’t have children of their own, they were blessed to have many nieces and nephews, (too many to mention) that they took with them on trips and adventures making many wonderful memories, please know that Jack shared these memories with me, and held each one of you and those memories dear to his heart. Jack is survived by his loving companion of 23 years Brenda Marsh, her daughter Brandie, grandson Carter, as well as his loyal cat Topaz. He will be sadly missed by his late sister Marion’s children, Joyce (Jim) Hodder, Warren (Linda) Dixon, Glenn (Donna) Dixon, and Corrine Dixon, who were more like brothers and sisters because of the closeness in age. Ever present in his life was niece dawn (Gould) Walsh, her husband Neil Walsh (who was like a son to Jack) and their children Hannah and Neil Jr. Along with his parents and wife, Jack was predeceased by a sister Marion. Jack was an intelligent man who was an avid reader and loved learning exactly how things worked. He read every word of every manual that came with the products he bought. He was a loving, kind man who was generous with his time for anyone in need. He has numerous achievements and though referred to as a Jack of all trades, he mastered everyone with ease. Jack often spoke of a Richard family who included him in their lives as they played music, he played recorder with them and learned to love French Cuisine. He spoke highly of friends John and Bonnie Kerr from the US and offered his assistance in helping to build the famous Round House in Dingwall (he was only 17 at the time). He loved computers and was very proficient using them which proved to be quite useful as he worked in Call Centers. His hobbies were very widespread; he was able to wire a house, take care of the plumbing, look after any carpentry job, and mechanically fix any vehicle; he was taught many skills, some of which were taught to him by his beloved grandmother Janie, such as knitting, crocheting, and sewing, he was so talented that he made his wife’s wedding gown! Jack’s attributes were many and included his loving, kind and generous spirit, a smile that would light up a room and a laugh that prompted you to laugh with him. My favourite was his amazing gift for story telling with that Irish lilt in his voice that held you spellbound until the end. Another gift was his love of animals who sought him out when they were hurt or hungry. They trusted him to help them, and we called him the animal whisperer. One of his proudest moments was when he got to hold a cougar on his lap, and the cougar purred and fell asleep (the owner was amazed)! The world has lost a beautiful man whose memory will live on in everyone who knew and loved him. I am a better person for having known him and I am forever grateful that he is no longer suffering. He is now in the arms of God. Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m., and a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m., with Fr. Daniel Boudreau presiding, all in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199. Words of comfort may be expressed to Jack’s family by visiting www.tjtracey.com. “This was no ordinary life.
