Obituary of Joseph Leo McKinnon

McKinnon, Joseph “Leo”, 68 of Linwood; Antigonish County passed away on October 29, 2023 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late J. Carroll and Laura Jean (MacDonald) McKinnon. Leo had worked for many years driving cement truck alongside his brother Michael until 2004. Leo could be found often out in his yard doing gardening, yard work, his winters wood, playing around with his tractor or in the garage. Some of his favorite past times were watching NASCAR, listening to country music, fishing, found in the kitchen cooking or baking, afternoon visits with Paddy and for many years his morning Tim Horton’s visits with the crew. He is survived by his wife, Gail Maire; Linwood; Son’s, Brent, Mulgrave and Brad, Auld Cove; Grandchildren, Kendra, Kailey, Kelsey, Tyson, Dawson, Kaiden and Nixon along with their mothers, Trina, Chrysta and Danielle, Sister's, Ruby, Quispamsis and Carol, Sydney along with many nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his sister, Jean Ann; half sister, Margaret Sequin, brothers Michael and Johnny. Cremation has taken place and arrangements are to be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the paramedics that transported Leo to St. Martha’s Hospital and to the staff in both the Emergency Department and on GARU/MedSurg Unit that cared for Leo during his final days for their kind and professional care.
