Cameron James Fraser, 73
Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cameron James Fraser, 73, in the Glace Bay Hospital, on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, with his family at his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Burns) Fraser.
Cameron worked for Sysco Steel for 30 years; and was a dedicated member of St. Anne’s Parish. He was a family man, and fiercely loved his wife, children, and grandchildren; he was slow to anger, and quick to laugh, for which he had a silly sense of humor, and didn’t take life too seriously. Cameron could talk to and make friends with anyone, he was loving and generous, and had a nickname (sometimes several) for everyone; his favorite team was the Boston Bruins. He spent many summer nights by the fire pit listening to music of all kinds, and enjoyed his time spent with his dogs, Hank and Zoey, and cat Patches.
Cameron is survived by his wife Anna (MacInnis) Fraser of 35 years; four sons: Jim Fraser (Nicole), Jason Fraser, Bryce Fraser (Tara), and Brendon Fraser (Jesse); a daughter Angela Fraser (Doug); brother Wayne Fraser (Kay); sister Helen Fraser; three grandchildren: Sidney, Spencer, and Charlie. He will be missed by his niece, his sports buddy, Mickey Burchell, whom he loved with all his heart.
Along with his parents, Cameron was predeceased by two sisters Anne Boone and Ruth Burchell.
A Celebration of Life for the late Cameron Fraser will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 10 a.m., with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding, in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Melanie Adams, all staff in the Cape Breton Cancer Center, doctors, and nurses at both the Cape Breton Regional and Glace Bay Hospital; as well as the VON nurses and the Palliative Care Team, your compassion and kindness was appreciated.
