Obituary of James Arthur Bennett

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father James Arthur Bennett (77) of Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was born in Sydney on August 22, 1946 to the late Lawerence and Effie (Ried) Bennett.
Dad is survived by his son Trevor and daughter Christa (Gerard), sisters Annie, Margie (Ralph), Helen (Glenn), Donnie and Elaine (Dean) and grandchildren Matthew, Julia, Morah, Alex and Ben.
Dad was predeceased by siblings Roy, Billie, Martha, May and Jean.
Dad was a coal miner for many years and after retirement he loved driving a taxi for Dynasty Taxi. Dad took great pleasure in helping those off the cruise ships see all the beauty Cape Breton has and always making them feel so welcome. Naturally charismatic and friendly, he loved all the years he spent “retiring”.
There will be no service and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dad’s name to The Canadian Lung Association.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Northwood Halifax Campus for making Dad such a beloved part of their family. Their compassion and comfort are a memory we will all hold dear to our hearts.
