Obituary of Maureen Joan Dearing
Please share a memory of Maureen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 84, of Halifax.
The family of Maureen Joan (Short) Dearing would like to announce her passing suddenly at home in Halifax on September 27, 2023. Maureen was the oldest daughter of the late Charles and Joan Short of Boreham Wood, England.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Claude), Kerri (Norm) of Vancouver; son, Stephen (Sharon) of Vancouver; grandchildren, Natalie and Lauren Willett of Halifax, Eden of Charlottetown and Robert Dearing of Vancouver; sister, Anne (John) Glinn of Pewsey, England.
Maureen loved cats and had several of them over the years that kept her entertained and that she spoiled with treats. She was also an excellent cook and we always looked forward to the tray of cookies and mincemeat tarts she would bring over for Christmas dinner. In her younger years she was very involved in ballroom dancing and prided herself on her sewing and tailoring skills. She lived in many places over her life but her favourite places in the world were Cornwall (Port Isaac) and Prince Edward Island.
We would like to thank her family physician, Dr. Kremed and Bayshore home care providers who looked after her. We would also like to thank all the residents of her apartment building who were so friendly and kind to her over the years, especially Keith and Barb.
As per Maureen’s wishes, her body will be cremated under the care of T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax and there will be no service.
Donations in her memory can be made to the SPCA.
