Please share a memory of Sarah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
23 June 1942 ~ 12 September 2023
Sally passed peacefully on 12 September 2023 at the Parkstone Extended Care facility in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Sally is survived by her husband of 62 years; Darryl Allen, her children; Kevin (Donna), Glen (Deanna), Stacy (Derek Kinsman) and Christopher (Ellen), her grandchildren; Jessica, Laura, Sara, Andrew, Adam, Jordon, Carly(Jupiter), Evan, Rachel, Bradley, Caitlin, Andrea, and Ryan, her great-grandchildren; Elliott, Teddy, Marlë Lyn and Milëna, and her brother Robert (Suellen).
She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Anne (Campbell) Hartley and sister-in-law Patti.
Sally was a consummate homemaker who loved spending time with family and friends, at home, at the cottage, camping, and on many vacations to the Caribbean. She had a passion for gardening and worked periodically in the Plant Care business. Her artistic side appeared in her paintings and silly poems. She loved loons and nature scenes.
Early motherhood saw Sally enjoy teaching and the PTA. Weekends spent cheering for the boys at hockey was the norm, as were her many clubs, including Water Aerobics and Bridge. Sally was the president and a founding member of the Highland Park Teen Club. Likely because she had 3 teens and one more fast approaching.
Sally was a devoted lifelong friend to many. ‘Her Girls’ were her strength and inspiration.
She and Darryl had many couples as close friends that are considered ‘extra Aunts and Uncles’.
The Cottage Years at Blysteiner Lake were filled with visits from grandkids and treasured friends, with a side trip to Frenchys, where she should have made commission. Her smile was infectious, she could always make a short story long and belly laugh til tears ran.
Sincere thanks to the staff at the Dixon building Kidney Dialysis Unit and the staff at Mount Lane, Parkstone Enhanced Care…All of your dignified care and compassion are greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of choice.
Her cremains are in the care of T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists
