Obituary of Paul Kevin Sproul

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Paul Kevin Sproul, 59, of Lower Sackville, NS passed away September 4, 2023, surrounded by his family at the Victoria General Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Ronald and Gladys Sproul, and Jean Harris. To know Paul was to love Paul. He was a gentle, kind, and loving person, who was not afraid to be silly to get a laugh and brighten your day. Paul was most happy when he was with family. “His Girls” – his wife, daughter and granddaughters – were the motivation that kept him positive as he battled his illnesses. As a proud Grampy, he would never miss an opportunity to share a photo of his girls with anyone who visited. Over the years, Paul enjoyed multiple cruises and trips to Florida with family and friends. He truly loved the outdoors; two of his favourite activities were fishing and camping. He was an electrician by trade and a member of the IBEW Local 625 for 24 years. Those who worked with Paul would often call him, “Lazer Eye” because he could tell if something was level or not with just a quick glance. Paul loved to tinker on projects in the garage. He appreciated the challenge of taking something old, and “putting it back to factory.” Paul owned many Chevy trucks over the years, and thanks to his best friend Tim Baine, his trucks were always in showroom condition. Paul is survived by his wife, Mindy Magarvey; daughter, Jessica Sproul (Daniel Bower); granddaughters Lilly and Mya; brothers, Albert Sproul (late Deanna), Roy Sproul (Brenda), Doug Sproul, John Sproul (Colleen), Murray Sproul (Carla), Greg Harris (Karrie); sisters, Mary Nicol (late Donald), Margaret Atkinson (Doug), Betty Caswell (Jack), Janet Kirkpatrick, Jane Garnett, Natalie Wilkins (Tony); sisters in law, Kim Magarvey (Mike), Marie Sproul, Debbie Sproul; and many nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his son, David “Davey” Sproul; parents, Gladys and Ronald Sproul, and Jean Harris (Brian); brothers, Fred Sproul, Leonard Sproul, Francis Sproul; sister, Dorothy Myles; and in-laws, Jane and Mike Magarvey. Visitation will be held Friday September 15, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB. A funeral service will be held Saturday September 16, 2023 at 2:00 pm also at Fundy Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held at a later date, at Oakridge Memorial Gardens, in Lower Sackville, NS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Monica Dunbar Palliative Care Education Fund for Nurses at the QEII Foundation, John T. McMillan Jr. Memorial Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Paul received exceptional medical support throughout his illness. The family thanks all the medical professionals involved over the years for their care and compassion. We would especially like to recognize Dr. Timothy Matheson (Family Physician), Dr. Robyn MacFarlane (Medical Oncologist), and Dr. Paul Bonnar (Infectious Disease Specialist). A special thank you to both Paul and Mindy’s employers, Provincial Electric Limited and Bedford South Dentistry for their ongoing support. Lastly, thank you to niece Mya Harris (RN) for her clinical guidance with palliative care.
