Obituary of Russell Norman Parsons

Russell Norman Parsons,age 79, of Halifax passed away Friday August 25, 2023 at the QE2 hospital. Born in Ramea Island, NL he was the son of the late Harry and Minnie Parsons (Keeping).
Russell (known to many by Norm) was a jack of all trades but spent most of his life working as a long haul truck driver for Dartmouth Building Supplies which was later Peircey”s. He then joined his wife as a respected school crossing guard before retiring.
Russell loved spending time with family and friends camping, fishing as well as other adventures. He especially loved cooking big meals and hosting barbecues. His loss has left a hole in our hearts but he will be lovely remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by daughters, Suzanne Parsons (Terry) of Beaverbank, Christine Parsons (Bernard) of Lower Sackville; brothers, Brian Parsons (Donna ) and Jimmy Parsons (Lynn) both of Halifax; sisters, Mildred(Dave) Corbin of Timberlea, Diana (John ) McNeil of Halifax, Yvonne (Perry)Gurtin of Australia; Grandchildren, Michael, Quintynn, Gregory, Joshua and Brianna: 2 grand dogs, Romeo and Lady Lola; and great grandson, Ezekiel as well as many other family members.
He is predeceased by his wife, Gloria; son, Bruce; father, Harry; mother, Minnie.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held 2-4 pm, Saturday September 23, 2023, in the Royal Canadian Legion located at 231 Greenhead Rd in Lakeside. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Russell's name.
Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, They simply mean we'll miss you until we meet again. Special thanks to all the health care workers during his time with us.
