Obituary of Paul Douglas Garrison
Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Paul Douglas Garrison, 73, of Halifax passed away July 12, 2023 at the QEII. Born in Halifax NS, he was adopted at birth by his loving parents, the late Douglas and Barbara Garrison, née Delouchry.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Jean Garrison of 51 years. Four daughters, Tara (James) Couvrette, Jan (Matt) Jordan, Paula (Douglas) Coates, and Patti (Josh) Comeau. Eight Grandchildren, Chayse, Darcy, Desirée, Tristin, Hailey, Christopher, Brooklyn and Brayden.
Paul had many professions throughout his life. He worked for the federal government, was a business owner, salesman and held multiple manager positions in customer service. He loved working with people and many would say they always remembered his infectious smile and how he took the time to get to know everyone.
Paul was always an active member in the church community and never left behind the teachings of Christ—he was a principled man of integrity, in his beliefs and in Christ.
Some of his greatest joy came from being with family, friends and his dogs. He created many memories while enjoying road trips, family trips, playing crib, and camping. He enjoyed attending and supporting all of his family's many activities.
Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Paul managed his illness with strength, grace, positivity and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final days, he was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren, who he adored more than anything else in the world.
One of Paul’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. He had always wanted children and considered himself lucky enough to have four. His children saw their dad as a hero, and even as adults, still see him that way. He was always there for them through their ups and downs. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important — the simplicity of living a life with those you love. His most proud achievement in life was marrying his wife Jean who supported him in all his endeavors during his heyday, and lovingly supported him physically and emotionally during their last days together. He was a true blessing to our family, and truly one of a kind who will be dearly missed and never forgotten by family and those he touched. We love you.
