Shirley and Family
So sorry to read off the death of Robert Vern. He was just a young tot at the family cottage in Ross Ferry when I last saw him. Just reading some comments appears as though he had Bill's ability in hockey as a tough hitter. Recall attending hockey practice with Bill (Basher) many years ago.
Under ordinary circumstance we would most likely have been to C.B. but circumstances make it impossible at the time. It also appears as though he has the family ability to dig into family history.

I will always remember being stranded in homeless in Toronto when Bobby rescued me and took me to his home. Bobby was the most kind hearted real gentlemen I have ever known, and not many can claim that, that’s for certain. Literally the shirt off his back type of guy. We all remember the time he gave a friend his credit card to buy his family a Christmas, then after his friend wasted the money on selfish needs, he put his hand in his pocket once again to see his kids didn’t suffer. Who does this sort of thing, I mean , really. You are really going to be missed Skinny, you were one of the best my friend. Bobby was so very kind to me when I first met him. My husband now, Ross, had lived with Bobby at the time. I moved up with them. Bobby taught me how to ride the subways, the buses. He was a very kind soul. He was very good to both Ross and I. We reconnected a few years ago. I am so grateful for the memories I have of him. He was like a father to me. Rest in peace my buddy. Sorry to hear of Bobby's passing, remember him as one of the many young people growing up in the town of Glace Bay. I had the pleasure of working with him as a Cub, I was one of the leaders and Bobby's amazing personality certainly showed through at this time.
