John William Drew

It is with great sadness that we the family, announce the sudden passing, of John William Drew on May 29, 2023, at home. Born on February 22, 1962, he was the son of the late William (Bill) and Melva (Ellsworth) Drew.
John had been employed over the years with several jobs, as he was a man of many endeavours. Later in life, John discovered the art of painting on canvas, in which he excelled, and found tremendous peace. His paintings were always hand delivered with a smile, though never signed. John was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He had such a kind heart. He was well known around town and will be deeply missed by his buddies at the taxi stand.
John is survived by his loving sister Debbie and her husband Douglas Corbett, along with their children, Deena (Mark), Keith, and their children Reese and Riley. He is also survived by special aunts and uncles, whom he loved dearly, along with many cousins, and special friends Mickey Reid, and Tony Fortune of Dominion, and his fur baby Jeep.
Along with his parents, John was predeceased by special nephew Sheldon.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902.849.4199. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 12-1 pm, and a Celebration of Life to follow, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau presiding. Interment to be held in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
