Ronald Joseph ‘Ronnie’ MacDougall
Glace Bay
It is with great sadness that we the family announce the sudden passing of Ronnie MacDougall, age 70, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Ronald ‘Rannie’ and Sarah ‘Sally’ (MacIsaac) MacDougall.
Ronnie grew up in MacKay’s Corner with his three siblings. After high school, Ronnie attended school for Auto Body. He was employed with his brother, Rudy for many years at MacDougall’s Auto Body. Ronnie loved sports of all kinds. He played softball in his younger years, was an avid horseman and a proud member of the Huff and Puff Hockey League. Ronnie would do anything for anyone.
Ronnie had a great love for music. If anything, good came of Covid it was Ronnie found a venue for his talent. We have wonderful videos of the ‘Ultimate Kitchen Party on Facebook. He was a staple at all family gatherings with his guitar and often ‘off color’ tunes. Ronnie enjoyed playing at various nursing homes around the island. ‘Oh, what we wouldn’t do to hear you play guitar and sing one of lyrics now!
Ronnie was predeceased by his parents.
Ronnie is survived by his sister, Anne (Basil) Marsh; brothers, Rudy (Doreen), and Victor (Lorna); Aunt, Vera MacIsaac; nieces, Cheryl, Wendy, and Roxanne; nephews, Sonny, Darrell, John Paul, and Andrew; many grand nieces and nephews and two great grand nieces. Ronnie will be missed by his friends, Cecil, Cathy, Debbie, Betty Jeannie, and all the guys from the Huff and Puff.
Ronnie was not a flower fan, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice in Ronnie’s name.
Well Ronnie you will be so very missed. Our lives now have a void that will never be filled. We will raise a glass of the Captain in your honour. Rest Easy.
