Obituary of Daniel Arthur Durant
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel Arthur Durant (Dan, Danny) of Halifax.
October 30, 1962 – April 3, 2023.
Danny was a kind, gentle man who lived with depression and anxiety most of his life. Earlier this month
he believed he could only end his suffering by ending his life. Danny lived well, working as a baker
at Sobeys and more recently in roles behind-the-scenes with Staples. He was a talented painter, creating
pictures from nature and everyday life. He also liked music, movies, books, and sharing meals with
family.
Danny is survived by his father, Art Durant and stepmother, Judy (Landry); brothers, Joe Durant
(Monica Flinn) and Chris Ainsworth (Amber St. Pierre); aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and two little
grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Marnie (Dacey) Ainsworth, and his grandparents.
A few years ago, Danny and his brothers were happy to meet the extended family of their mother’s birth
father, especially Great Aunt Lillian, who died last year at the age of 100.
Danny’s body has been cremated. He asked that there be no funeral. With thanks to the staff of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, the Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Halifax Police Department.
Please do as Danny would want and be kind to one another. If you would like to honour Danny’s memory with a charitable
donation, please consider the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia (www.mentalhealthns.ca), which supports community-based services for clients and public education to reduce stigma around mental illness and addiction.
