Eric Courtney, 77 Dominion, NS It is with great sadness that we the family of Eric Courtney, 77 of Dominion, NS, announce his passing on Saturday, September 3, 2022, on the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, NS, with his family at his side. Born in Goblin, Hermitage Bay, NL, he was the son of the late John and Annie Courtney. Eric worked in Food Services for 19 years at the Community, Hospital, Glace Bay before moving to the Regional, Northside, and New Waterford Hospitals, and later to Taigh Na Mara; for a total of 31 years Eric immensely enjoyed working beside his staff and colleagues who grew to be lifelong friends. Eric also served for many years as Warden for the Church of Good Shepherd and volunteered with the C.P. Association as well as on various boards. Known for his big warm smile and welcoming embrace, Eric was a kind, loving husband and father who would do anything for his family and friends. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and carpentry and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Eric will be sadly missed by all. Survived by his loving wife of 48 years Irene; son: Barry; daughter: Dawn (Duncan); brothers: Mark (Frances), Clayton (Myrtle), and Edgar (Barb); sister: Eileen; grandchildren: Brittany, Ben, Nicholas, and Cameron; nephews, nieces, and an extended circle of relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Eric was predeceased by his darling daughter, Sonya. As per Eric’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. (902)849-4199. There will be no visitation and a private Interment will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of one’s choice.
