Bernard Leslie MacRury, 80
Glace Bay, N.S.
With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father, brother, and uncle on July 12, 2022, at Glace Bay General Hospital surrounded by the love of his family. Born May 23, 1942, in Glace Bay to the late Peter and Helen (Peters) MacRury.
Bernie worked at several garages doing various jobs, beginning at a very young age beside his father, gaining his love and knowledge of cars, trucks, and tractors. He drove for the Glace Bay Bus Company, then to Glace Bay Water Department until his retirement. Bernie enjoyed the simple things in life and time spent with family and friends. He loved his daily coffee runs with Wayne, picking apples with Jimmy, going to concerts with Dianne to see her” boyfriends.” He loved his family beyond measure and will be deeply missed.
Survived by his wife Dianne, sons James (Allan) and Wayne (Lorna); sisters Sharon (Gordie) and Debbie (Gerald); brother-in-law Leonard (Cecilia) and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by siblings Jimmie and Georgie (in childhood), Willie (Dan) and Joan (Tom) and his Simmons in-law’s Tom and Eileen, Roy (Ruth), George (Priscilla), Allie (Belle), Leo (Karen), Myrna and Sheila (Jim). Niece Valerie and nephew David.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will begin with visitation Saturday, July 16 from 12-2pm with memorial service to immediately follow at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. (902)849-4199.

To our family, relatives, friends, and neighbors, thank you for the comfort and support, for all the calls, cards, flowers, charitable donations, and food brought to our homes. Thank you to everyone who travelled to be with us, it was much appreciated.
Thank you to Dr. MacCormick and his team – we cannot say enough. The Palliative Care doctors and nurses are so deserving of our thanks. Our family Doctor – Dr. Haq, the VON, EHS, and the Glace Bay Hospital 3 West, Doctors, and nurses – thank you for your care, kindness, and compassion. As a proud member of the Glace Bay Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, Bernie would have been honoured, to see the large turnout of firefighters in attendance, the honour guard and the fire truck parked outside, showing such respect. Thank you.
Thank you to Martha MacDonald, lay minister, and to Donnie Campbell for the beautiful music. To the readers-Chappelle, Lisa, and the eulogist Brenda, you did great. Thank you to everyone who attended the visitation and service. The luncheon at the Glace Bay Fire Hall after the service was enjoyed by all and was very much appreciated. To the professional staff at T.J. Tracey’s Thank you. Rest in Peace Bernie – we will love and miss you always.
