Duke (Wesley) Davidson
Glace Bay
It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Duke (Wesley) Davidson of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on Friday May 13, 2022, at the QEII Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late James and Elizabeth Davidson; Duke was born December 9, 1940, in Glace Bay.
Duke worked as a mechanic with the DEVCO coal company leading up until his retirement. He was well known for has mechanical abilities alongside his co-worker and friend Danny Burke of whom he held at high regards.
Family and friends were especially important to Duke. Laura was more than his wife but also his best friend for 56 years. He looked forward to his weekly karaoke nights where he loved to listen to Laura sing, as well as sit and chat for hours with his good friends Bud and Stewart. Duke was also a longtime member of the Hub Club.
After camping at Ben Eoin Beach for 40 years; Duke was known as somewhat of a Ben Eoin Beach Icon, he was the “go to man” for trailer repairs and well known by all campers.
He looked forward to the simple things in life. Duke loved watching Judge Judy because he himself would not shy away from a good argument. He enjoyed his daily morning Tim Horton coffee runs with his side kick and partner in crime Dougie Snow. Dad was known by many for his “dry, witty sense of humor;” his humor brought joy to all who knew him.
Duke is survived by his loving wife Laura, two daughters Tracey (Lyle) Deering and Debbie (Johnnie); brother Dan and grandchildren Addison & Colton (Alyssa). Duke will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Glenna, Paula, Michael, Grace, Robert, Diane (Nicole) & Gina (Kendra).
Besides his parents, a sister Katherine and nephews Jimmy and Kenneth predeceased Duke.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Greg and Wanda for their kindness and compassion during an exceedingly difficult time away from home. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Visitation for Duke will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 4-5 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 5 p.m., Rev. Martha MacDonald presiding.
