Kevin Royal, 40
Dominion
It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Kevin Royal announce his passing on February 7, 2022, due to complications from a stroke, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital (ICU), with his loved one Shannon, by his side. Born in Glace Bay on February 6, 1982, Kevin is the son of Dannie and Susie Royal of Dominion.
He was a genuinely self-made man who worked his way from Cape Breton to Alberta as a heavy equipment operator and then back home to Cape Breton as a labourer at Louie Mazzocca‘s Garage in Dominion where he was well respected and loved by all. Kevin always left a lasting impression on anyone who crossed his path, with his infectious laugh, smile, and wit that would brighten any day. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was the jack of all trades and master of some.
Kevin had a great love for the outdoors. He spent his spare time hunting, fishing, camping and many trips to the family bungalow in Loch Lomond with family & friends. Kevin enjoyed his morning Tim's run down to Dominion beach before work with each one of his beach buddies.
Along with his parents, Kevin is forever loved and remembered by his partner Shannon McVeigh, daughter: Jessica McVeigh; siblings: Dannie Royal, Lenore Royal (Troy White), Carol Browner (Craig), Rickey Royal (Ashley Fowler); mother and father-in-law, Carol & Gerald McVeigh; sister, and brother-in-law Denise Healey (Sean); nieces and nephews: Anson, Darrien, and Hailey Sprake; Maya, Alexis and Riki Royal; Brooke, Dannie, and Katie Royal; Andrew Browner; many aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as Boo the Cat and Gunner, his new Pup.
Kevin is pre-deceased by his grandparents Michael and Gertrude Ellsworth, Walter and Muriel Royal, and Mary Nicholson; Cousins Mark and Jamie Royal; Aunts and uncles, Rannie and Josie Ellsworth, Lennie Ellsworth, Evie Ellsworth, Velma Ellsworth, Tina Royal, Ethel Rideout, and Donna Scholz.
A special thank you to Dr. Rose Mackay at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, as well as the ICU team (Andrew and Terry), Respiratory Therapy and Stroke Teams, for their kind and compassionate care. Thank you to each one of his friends near and far, for all the kind messages, stories, and support.
