To Mick’s family,
What a fine man Mick was. I enjoyed meeting and talking with Mick every November when Glacé Bay Elementary would hold the Remembrance Day ceremony. Each year I thanked him for his service. I know how much these ceremonies meant to him. I always looked forward to a chat. My husband Harris, who taught at the high school had a similar experience each year. I had the pleasure of teaching Crystal in grade two and I was pleased to learn that she was his granddaughter. They both adored each other. She talked of him all the time. I am so very sorry for your loss, for the legion’s loss, and for that of his community. We will remember him fondly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mick’s family. He was taken much too soon.

It was and still is with a shock that we learned of Mick's passing. Basil and Mick worked together with the 2878 Cadets and remained best friends for 25 years He will be sorely missed by, not only us but by anyone who knew him. RIP Mick, you are finally at rest.

To the MacDougall family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy at this time. Mick was one of my Captains with 2878 Cape Breton Highlanders Army Cadet Corps back in the early 90's. I also knew Mick from my sister going to school with Yoshi & Amber along with my youngest attending school with Lily. He also worked with my mom at Breton Bay. Mick and I always had lovely chats about cadets, trying to get me to come back to cadets as a non commissisoned officer; and asking me about work with the library. He is the reason why I got into Ancestry. He was like the favorite uncle everyone loved, blood related or not.
I will surely miss our chats Mike.

Diane, Nicole and Crystal,
So sad to hear of your loss of Mick. Was a shock to get your message. I knew he was on the transplant list - but never realized how devastating his condition had become. Thoroughly enjoyed the lovely photos of his 70th Birthday, only to be saddened by his sudden loss, mere weeks later.
