It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and friend Hoyles Ford at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen (Whiting) Ford.
Hoyles spent most of his life working hard to support his family, he worked for years in Ontario, later after moving back to Cape Breton he spent 50 years as a manager at Cadegans Fish Plant which later became Clearwater, a job he loved. In his younger years, Hoyles was known as a great hockey player playing up through the Miners to Junior Miners, capturing the Maritime Title in 1962-63.
He was an avid hunter and loved nothing better than a good hunting trip with his brothers and brother-in-law. A devoted family man, Hoyles loved nothing better than being surrounded by family, his grandchildren, then later his great-grandchildren who were the light of his life. He loved nothing better than a house filled with noise and chaos, which, having everyone together brought.
Hoyles is survived by his son George Ford; daughter, Rose (Harold) Ford; Melinda Gaigneur, who was like a second daughter; five wonderful grandchildren: Justin, Samantha, Kevin, George, Hoyles; his precious great-grandchildren: Bentley, Kache, Phoebe, Mira, Demien, Kenley, Zeke. He is also survived by brothers; David “Rocky” (Thelma) Ford, Glen (Linda) Ford; sisters, Delores (Mick) Kelloway, Frances (Bill) Sudworth; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 56 years Florence “Girlie” Ford; brothers, Daniel (infancy)Paul, Sid, Archie, James “Bunny”, Jerry, Art, and sister, Alice.
A Celebration of Life for the late Mr. Ford will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 2 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.
