George Frederick Mitchell, 88 Glace Bay It is with a broken heart, that we the family of George Mitchell, 88 of Glace Bay announce his passing on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Victoria Haven Nursing Home. George is the son of the late Fred and Florence (Totten) Mitchell. Da was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. In his early days, he worked as a Coal miner and then for the town of Glace Bay/CBRM, until his retirement in 1997. Da loved to hunt, fish, garden, and having an occasional game of cards; he also loved his cats. George is survived by his son: Freddie (Janice); Daughter: Marlene (Brian); Brother: Robert (Bobby) Mitchell; Grandchildren: Jennifer (Michael), Halifax and Lyndsey, Wolfville; he is also survived his extended family; Corrine Quann, Juanita Deane, George Mitchell, as well as their children and grandchildren. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his loving wife, Theresa, grandson Michael, and brother Terry. Visitation for the late George Mitchell will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. A special thank you to Dr. Gordon Spencer and Jeannie Phillips on their care and compassion over the last 26 plus years, and to the staff of Victoria Haven Nursing Home during Da’s stay.
