Aaron Joseph Shibinette, 26
Glace Bay
It is with our deepest sadness, we announce the sudden, tragic loss of our beloved Aaron at 26 years of age, due to a motor vehicle accident. Aaron was the son of Steve and Michelle (McPhee) Shibinette of Glace Bay, who are absolutely devastated.
Along with his parents, left to mourn Aaron’s passing is the love of his life and soulmate, fiancé, Ainsley Finlayson, his sister Robyn Shibinette; maternal grandmother, Geraldine McPhee; paternal grandmother, Barbara Clements; Father-in-law, John Finlayson (Kim Campbell); Mother-in-law, Debbie McIssac (Mike Wood); sister-in-law, Meghan Finlayson (Scott); Uncle Richard Murphy (Raylene); Aunt, Lori Shibinette (Ross); Uncle Derrick Shibinette; as well as many cousins.
Aaron is also survived by his childhood best friends; Brandon Ellis, and Kiegan Simms; as well as a very close group of friends that Aaron considered his family.
Aaron was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Joseph Shibinette and paternal step-grandfather Eldon Clements; maternal grandfather, Adrian McPhee, and maternal step-grandfather Ernie MacMillian.
In his short life Aaron obtained an Electrical Engineering Technology Degree from Cape Breton University. He was currently employed with Canada Post and Gillis Building Supplies; over the years he was employed with Marine Atlantic and Foodland, where he made many friends along the way. Aaron was known as a hard worker and always put a smile on his coworker’s faces. It was Aaron’s dream to be an RCMP officer, he was currently in the final stages of the recruitment process.
When Aaron was not working, he could be seen in his driveway detailing his truck even in the middle of winter. He was at the gym everyday or the shooting range and his beloved canine companion, Luna, was never far from his side. Aaron and Ainsley spent most weekends hanging with “the crew’. Aaron had a huge personality that filled a room and a contagious laugh that made anyone’s day, and even if he had not seen you in years, he would strike up a conversation as if he had just talked to you yesterday.
We would like to thank the EHS Paramedics on scene, the ER Staff of the CBRH, Life Flight Staff, and ICU Doctors, Jack Rasmusen and Sara McMullin; as well as all nurses from the Halifax Infirmary ICU 5.2, for their tireless efforts to care for Aaron. We would also like to thank the RCMP officers that found Aaron’s beloved Luna at the accident site.
Special thank you to Hanna MacDonald and Bryden Orrell; as well as Cathy Gillis and Lisa Facchin, who went above and beyond for the family at this tragic time.
Visitation for Aaron will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 11-2 p.m., and a Celebration of Life to follow, with Fr. Dan Boudreau presiding at T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, 902-849-4199. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, MacLeod’s Rd.
