Lydia Maxine MacDonald (Hiltz) passed away on June 4. 2020. Born in 1935 in the Forties, New Ross. The daughter of the late Jane and Alexander (Alec) Hiltz. From humble beginnings of farm life she leaned to be self sufficient and learned many crafts including Knitting, Quilting and Sewing. Making lots of clothes for both people and dolls. There was many a Christmas that she would have made at least 10 sweaters. Knitting until the wee hours. Another passion was Tuesday evening Bridge with her friends. Always trying to out do each other with their treats at end. She loved to cook and entertain from family gatherings to parties with friends.Many weekends in the summer camping.5 kids and 2 adults in a tent trailer. Oh the fun times. She moved to the city to go to school then worked at MT&T, where she worked in the billing department. This is where she met John. Once the kids were grown she when back to work in retail. Working in such shops as The Sally Shop. The Maple tree. And Penningtons.She enjoyed traveling, saw alot of the world. Including 2 years in Saudi Arabia.In later years it was adventures on road trips around the province. Music was a huge part of her life. The radio was always on. She would get caught dancing to anything from Kenny Rogers to Bruce Springsteen. She attended countless choir and band concerts with both her children and her granddaughter. She was her granddaughters' biggest fan. She lived in Bridgeview for over 55 years.She is survived by her Husband John;Daughter, Angela Comeau; Granddaughters Kaitlyn and Sarah Comeau;sons, Stephen (Jillian). (Grandson Sam) John, Andy (Lynette), (Grandchildren Kelsey, Connor MacDonald) and Joe;Several nieces and nephews.Along with her Parents she is proceeded by her dear Sister and her husband. Marg and Lindsay Gates. And several aunts and uncles The family would like to thank Dr Demster and the staff in Pallative care 7a for their support and kindness.Joanne the music therapist who played and sang for mom in her last days And David Maginley who provided much needed comfort and support. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in support of the Heart and stroke foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. The family is having a private celebration.
