Obituary of Geraldine Margaret Kearns

Please share a memory of Geraldine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that the family of Geraldine Kearns announces her passing on March 25, 2024, in Halifax, NS at the age of 81. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Margaret Kearns. Geraldine is survived by her sister Joan Kelly (Roy), her nieces and nephews (Michele, Angela, Allison, Emily, Anna & William) and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother William. Geraldine worked as a pharmacist for all her life, working at both the IWK and Camphill hospital and then later in her career joining the NS College of Pharmacists doing pharmacy inspections for all of NS. Geraldine was known for her dedication to helping others. She was very involved in her church (St. Theresa’s parish), delivering communion to the shut-ins, and volunteering her time with Meals on Wheels, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS and the Cardiac Clinic at the VG hospital. We would like to express our thanks to the staff at Melville Lodge for the fantastic care that they provided Geraldine for the last 2 years of her life. A memorial service for Geraldine will be held on Friday, April 12th @ 10am at St. Catherine of Siena church (6476 Bayers Rd, Halifax) with a family burial to follow later at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Alzheimer Society of NS or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS.
