It is with sadness that the family of Margaret Emily MacIntosh, age 82 of Halifax, announce her passing on May 2nd, 2019, at Northwood Manor.
Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Alice (Innes) Purcell.
Margaret was the owner/operator of the Ardmore Rest Home for over 20 years. She was an avid wine maker and opened up her own store, “The Wine Cellar”, from 1986 to 2003. She was a member and one of the original founders of the St. Margaret’s Bay Business Association and was very active in her community. Margaret was a warm and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Margaret and her husband Donald enjoyed travelling with the family by trailer across the continent and later became avid boaters in the St Margaret’s bay area.
Margaret is survived by daughters Deanna and Leslie; brothers Steven and wife Sherry, Michael and wife Marilyn. Sisters Elaine, Jackie, and Cecille along with grandchildren Keith and Rebecca Sampson also great granddaughter Lyla-Rose Sampson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald MacIntosh along with brother Allen and sisters Lillian, Gertrude, Dorothy, and Eddie.
Cremation has taken place under the care of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax. (902-835-4212).
A private family gathering will take place at a later date and any donations in remembrance of Margaret can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all staff on 7 Centre at Northwood Manor for their constant care, kindness, and communication throughout the 11 years she was a resident.
