Marie-Mai Mallet, 57, of Heathbell, NS, passed away February 13, 2019 at Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS. Born in Moncton, NB to Jeanette Despres and Francis Mallet (late). Marie-Mai was an avid gardener and in general natural living enthusiast. Marie-Mai graduated from Mathieu Martin High School in Moncton. Marie-Mai completed computer training in Montreal and was an accomplished computer database programmer, working in Montreal and later for Blue Cross in Moncton. Marie-Mai studied health at Loma Linda University in California. She was a research assistant participating in ground breaking research promoting health. Marie-Mai became an alpaca farmer and learned how to process alpaca fiber and produce exotic yarns. Marie-Mai was full of pure strength and passion for whatever goals she set to reach. Despite having low finances, she knew how to budget and survive independently. She was very resourceful with whatever she owned and taught her daughters the same. Whatever she wanted to be done, she made sure it was going to be done efficiently. Marie-Mai was full of ambition, energy and beaming smiles. She was known to greet you with her fresh garden vegetables and homemade wool products. Survived by her daughters Elianna MacKinnon and Simone MacKinnon; mother Jeanette Despres; sisters Patricia Chervet, Francine Mallet, Colette Dupuis, Gabrielle Fisher, and Claire Ale; and brothers Joseph and Roger Mallet. A celebration of Marie-Mai’s life will be held by the family in the summertime. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Special thanks to Gerald and Collette Dupuis for the precious care they extended to Marie-Mai. Thanks to the staff in the palliative care unit at Victoria General Hospital for their thoughtful care of Marie-Mai.
